PAARDEPLAATS OFFERS ELEGANT ACCOMMODATION IN A UNIQUE AND BEAUTIFUL NATURE SETTING, SITUATED CLOSE TO LYDENBURG ON THE SCENIC ‘LONG TOM’ MOUNTAIN PASS
On Paardeplaats, hidden amongst the white stinkwood trees, next to a mountain stream with beautiful views of the valley, early gold miners built this historical, settlement in the 1850’s & 60’s. In 1979, the then, new owner of Paardeplaats, Jaap van Proosdij discovered these ruins, hidden in the fynbos and bush undergrowth, and reconstructed the rooms, preserving the original ambience of this historical gold mining settlement. The five bedrooms are en suite, each with its unique character with stained glass windows, coffee station and own patio with a private view of the valley and mountains. Beds have quality mattresses and down duvets for the colder nights. Rooms all have wi-fi, and solar lights and plug points, to recharge your phones or for sleep apnoea machines.
