                                                             A THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

“When you sit with a nice girl for two hours you think it’s only a minute. But when you sit on a hot stove for a minute you think it’s two hours.
That’s relativity.”

COMMENTS FOR THE DAY:

Friday 18th June 2021:

Lungisile & Velli saw a leopard fighting a bush pig close to the boom at 5pm (Shaila time).  This is very important for us, as leopards are so shy, and being nocturnal in our area, we hardly ever see them.

Friday 2nd July 2021:

Lucas & Velli have completed the clearing of the ‘River Ramble’ (our new short hiking route along the river). There are about 20 large tree ferns along the route,  a variety of aloes, plus I have planted some wild dagga, and there are of  course  plenty of Schizostylis and Nerinas, in summer. We will be building some stone benches for meditation.
The whole process has uncovered  a beautiful small waterfall in the middle of the route, plus an old concrete dam wall dating back to the 1850’s, built by the gold miners, to supply water to their ‘stamp mill’. This will become the new ‘Nymph pool’ as it has no cracks or leaks, is about 1.5 m deep, but is full of 150 years of silt which we are busy clearing out. Work continues.

Monday 27th September 2021:

Gerda’s aunt, Frieda van Proosdij passed away at age 90, this morning. Frieda was the wife of Jaap, who bought the farm in 1979.

Friday 1st October 2021:

We  had our first real rain today (11mm) with more forecast for the weekend.
